FPLEG 8 conducts search and rescue operation; searches for missing fisherfolks after onslaught of Typhoon Jolina

Series of search and rescue operations and investigations were conducted this week by the Fisheries Protection and Law Enforcement Group (FPLEG) 8 within the waters of Biliran Island, and Samar Sea extending to Almagro Island in a bid to provide assistance to the bereaved families of several Commercial Fishing Vessels crew and municipal fisherfolks who are still missing since the onslaught of typhoon Jolina.

Coordination with coastal Local Government Units (LGUs) in the provinces of Leyte, Samar and Biliran was conducted by the Bureau’s respective Provincial Fishery Offices (PFOs) and FPLEG 8 to monitor the status of the affected families and plan the appropriate interventions for them.

To date, two families appealed to the BFAR 8 for further search and rescue operations and necessary legal assistance. The Office also submitted a Damage and Loss Assessment (DaLA) report for provision of appropriate funding and immediate response to the victims of the typhoon.

We appeal to the public to help us find our dear fisherfolks whose bodies are still missing until this moment. You may read the first three posters attached for possible identification and future coordination. Let us be one on providing the solution and be united on this cause.
